Good Company — People who inspire us

Coaching and Compassion

We heard about a pro bono workshop that caught our attention: „Compassion begins with you”. Compassion and coaching seem like two somewhat distinct fields. Bringing them together and showing others how they can have both in their lives is very inspiring. We are curious how Raluca and Ian will speak about this.

Reading the details about this workshop became an opportunity to reflect on how far we can go, in our relationship with ourselves and with the people around us, in practicing compassion.

Apparently, when we care only about our results in life, compassion does not have much room to show itself. We make a little space for it, but only until it steps on or undermines the results we want to achieve. In everyday life we often experience a limit up to which we have access to compassion, after which we return to our 'main' goals. Many times we are so caught up in reaching personal goals, sales plans and turnover figures that we end up having time for compassion only on Sunday, when meeting our favorite friends for a beer or sitting in front of the television watching our favorite show. Sometimes the pairing of our life goals and compassion looks something like this:

And yet, is it possible for the two worlds to be closer? Could they even overlap?
