The Happiness Guides – About Isihasm with Vasile Andru

We've heard about a new meeting at Seeds for Happiness with the topic "Guides for Happiness" which will certainly stir up your curiosity.

The periodical meetings called "The Happiness Guides" present us personalities who, along the centuries, had showed us different ways in which we can cultivate, through spiritual practice, an authentic happiness without seeds of suffering.

Seeds for Happiness proposed to present the topic of "Isihasm" for the evening of the 26^th of April. Mr. Andru Vasile and Mr. Aurelian Scrima, founder of Herald Publishing House, will share with us their knowledge on this topic.

The word "Isihasm" comes from the Greek hesychia = silence, peace and inner focus, it describes a contemplative tradition dating back to the first centuries of the Christian era. Later it will develop into a spiritual renaissance movement bearing the name of "Isihasm" in the XIV century, on Mount Athos.

Vasile Andru was born in 1942, in Northern Bucovina, he is a teacher of Isihast wisdom and practice, a man with a glowing face who confesses he was born with the gene of happiness. He studied at the university in Iași; he got scholarships for anthropological documentation studies in Rome and Paris; he got his Master's Degree in philosophy in Trivandrum. He was a university lecturer for seven years, then he was editor in chief of the magazine "Viața Romanească" (Romanian Life). After the Revolution in 1989, he was appointed in several executive positions in the Romanian Writers Union.

In 1990, he creates and coordinates The Center of Isihast Practice in Bucharest and seven branches across the country. He makes four journeys to Mountain Athos. Mr. Andru has published around 30 books, fiction and spirituality books of special importance for the Romanian culture.
