The "Evening of Books" is a gathering of people interested in learning, reading and knowledge. The evening creates moments of sincere and valuable interaction between people focused around a common passion: reading.
It is organized once a month by Seeds for Happiness Center, primarily to talk about books but also to meet new people and to share knowledge, experiences and feelings. At this meeting, we will browse the book “Practical meditation, daily life applications” written by Geshe Rabten and published by Herald Publishing House, a book which can be won by participating in the raffle of the night.
“Practical meditation, daily life applications” contains instructions indispensable to all those who wish to seriously dedicate themselves to the practice of meditation and it is divided into two categories of teachings; the first tackles the States of consciousness and the second, Meditation and daily life. The first teachings addresses a very important subject in Buddhism namely the mind. The Master gives logical explanations regarding the way in which we are attracted in the game of the incontrollable mind day by day and valuable explanations with regard to the practice of meditation and – maybe the most important of all – he helps us motivate ourselves in the discipline of meditation.
"Many people believe that, to uproot attachment, we must give up any type of affection or attraction towards pleasant objects, thinking that considering the object to be attractive is wrong. This presupposes ignoring Buddha’s teachings because, if we are not at all attracted by our own happiness and other people's happiness, as well as by Enlightenment, how could we be on our way to it?" Geshe Rabten
